For Joseph and Kelsey, it all started with a ‘swipe right’ on Tinder. After a few days of talking, they went on their first date on March 5, 2014 at Bowl & Barrel, an upscale restaurant and bowling alley in Dallas, TX. Kelsey purposefully showed up 15 minutes early, so HE would have to be the one to find her (and to this day Joey says he remembers walking in and immediately spotting “the girl in the green coat”).
After the initial awkward hello’s, they ended up bowling and enjoying each other’s company for several hours. Before they knew it, it was midnight and the waiter came over to tell them it was closing time.
Joey was immediately struck by her beauty, but it was her quick wit over text messages that drew him in. There was just something about Kelsey that made him need to meet her. On their first date, she kept asking to check her phone, and normally it would have been a turn off, except she was checking the SMU vs Louisville basketball score. A girl who was interested in sports? Joey couldn’t ask for more.
Joey purchased this beautiful ring from a Diamond broker in Dallas, Texas.
They knew their relationship was something special in July 2014 when they went to Lake Travis in Austin, Tx for the Fourth of July, but they both officially knew during their trip in Paris, France in October 2014. “Maybe it was the romance in Paris, but something on that trip made me realize I wanted to spend the rest of my life traveling and going on adventures with this guy.”
Joey chose to propose with the Brooklyn Bridge and Manhattan in the background for many reasons. They originally met in Dallas, but Kelsey had always been a huge fan of NYC. When she got the opportunity to move up to NYC, they knew long distance would not be easy, but they made it work – this was her chance to live her dream and Joey would never discourage her from doing it. Additionally, he always wanted to walk the Brooklyn Bridge and knew the view of the city by the water would be tough to beat. Not only was this spot perfect for pictures, but a walk in Brooklyn Park and dinner at The River Cafe would be the perfect closing to the chapter in Kelsey’s life in NYC. And, now NYC will always hold an extra special place in their hearts!
